He who requires the approval of the crowd is a slave

   If you require the approval of others then you are a slave to 
   others.  Your happiness lies in their hands, you are at their 
   mercy.  If, on the other hand, you don't need the approval of 
   others you are free.

   One of the secrets to happiness is to concern yourself only 
   with the approval of God and your own conscience.  Let your own 
   higher nature dictate your actions and conduct and don't give 
   any thought to the opinions, ideas and sentiments of other 
   people.

   He who must be accepted by the crowd, he who must have its 
   approval and applause, is in the hands of Satan.
