We live in a world of falsehood

We live in a world of falsehood. This world is just filled with falsehoods. There are two kinds of falsehoods:

1. Untruths that people knowingly assert. These untruths may be half-truths, deliberate deceptions or untruths that people assert for some ulterior motive or another. This category of falsehood comes under the category of lying or deceiving. Lying or deliberately deceiving reflects badly on a person’s character. If a person knowingly states a thing to be true when he knows it is not true he is guilty of lying. There is a whole lot of lying that occurs in this world. Many people lie a lot. Salesmen, politicians, and preachers are examples of types of people to treat with skepticism.

2. Things people assert which they believe to be true which are in fact false. Saying what one believes to be true but which is, in fact, not true is not lying and doesn’t reflect badly on a person’s character. However, the assertion is still false.

Each of us carries with us a great assortment of assumptions, suppositions, premises, beliefs, etc. and the things we say reflect these basic assumptions and beliefs. If those things which we assert are in fact false, we are not guilty of lying but we are guilty of spreading falsehoods.

My belief is that a very large portion of the things that most people think they know are in fact false. The sources of these falsehoods can be many: false religious beliefs, false political ideologies, false assertions made by elementary or secondary school teachers or college professors, etc.

People are mostly very naive. They are very easily misled. They are not inclined to thought, reflection, and critical examination. They just believe what they are told. Thinking is just too much trouble and too hard. Most people are just not that much interested in Truth. And what they are told is mostly falsehood.

People with agendas are able to use propaganda to mold the beliefs, outlooks, and attitudes of entire countries. Look at what happened in Nazi Germany. Look at what has happened in the Western World in regard to the topic of homosexuality. Repeat any falsehood enough times and most people will believe it. The Western world is a universe of moral, intellectual, and spiritual falsehoods. The source of these falsehoods is modern liberalism.

We live in a world that is just filled with falsehoods. Satan rules in this world and Satan is the Great Liar.

Underneath the way people think are assumptions, beliefs, premises.

Assumption. A thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof.

"they made certain assumptions about the market"

Similar: supposition, presumption, premise, belief

Many people are raised believing in some religious or political belief system — or later in life become converts to one. For example, they may be raised as Christian, Moslem, Jewish, Buddhist, or Hindu and their religious beliefs reflect the set of beliefs and dogmas of the sect in which they were raised. Or at some point in their lives they may have become converts to Marxism and their basic assumptions and beliefs correspond to those of Marxism.

At any rate, everyone acquires some set of basic beliefs in regard to life as they grow up.

Dogma. A principle or set of principles laid down by an authority as incontrovertibly true.

"the rejection of political dogma"

Similar: teaching, belief, conviction, tenet, principle, ethic, precept, maxim, article of faith,

canon, code of belief, set of beliefs, set of principles, doctrine, ideology, orthodoxy, blind faith,

unquestioning belief, certainty, invincible conviction, unchallengeable conviction, arrogant conviction

Once a person becomes a committed convert to a particular belief system he tends to dismiss without real thought or examination any ideas conflicting with the tenets of his belief system. It is not easy to get a person to seriously consider the beliefs of a belief system that conflicts radically with his own. He tends to dismiss the assumptions and dogmas that are in conflict with his own.

People tend to read material that corresponds to their beliefs, listen to people who believe as they do, and all of this reinforces their belief system. The result of this is that society breaks down into subgroups of different conflicting beliefs.

Modern liberalism is an atheistic belief system that has evolved from the beliefs of communism/ socialism and secular humanism. The modern liberal is just unable to understand the mind and outlook of a person of a conservative Bible based mind. There is a great gulf that exists between the two. One cannot understand the other. The simple fact that the modern liberal (or secular humanist) doesn’t believe in a God and the Christian does makes for a gigantic distance existing between them. Belief in a God brings with it all kinds of assumptions and outlooks and it is impossible for one to understand the other. The two live in two totally different worlds. That is why the old fashioned beliefs and outlooks are so incompatible with modern ones and liberals and conservatives are so far apart. The dominant belief system of the modern western world is atheistic liberalism.

The very fact that we live in a world of so many different conflicting belief systems is a guarantee that we live in a world of falsehoods (since conflicting belief systems imply conflicting beliefs and two conflicting beliefs can’t both be true.).
