QAnon

I am not a member of Facebook, Twitter, or any of the other social media so I am probably not as up-to-date as many people are on what is going on in my society.

Some time ago I was wondering what this “QAnon” thing was that I kept hearing about in the news. I did a Google search and found the Wikipedia article QAnon. There it states

“QAnon centers on false claims made by an anonymous individual or individuals known as "Q". Those claims have been relayed, developed and supplemented by numerous communities and influencers associated with the movement. The core QAnon theory is that a cabal of Satanic, cannibalistic sexual abusers of children operating a global child sex trafficking ring conspired against former U.S. President Donald Trump during his term in office. QAnon has direct roots in Pizzagate, an internet conspiracy theory that appeared one year earlier; it also incorporates elements of many other theories. Some experts have described QAnon as a cult.

Followers of the conspiracy theory say that the Trump administration secretly fought the cabal of pedophiles, and would conduct mass arrests and executions of thousands of cabal members on a day known as "the Storm" or "the Event". QAnon supporters have named Democratic politicians, Hollywood actors, high-ranking government officials, business tycoons, and medical experts as members of the cabal.”

My first reaction to the article was, “Wow! How could anyone be so simple and naive as to take such preposterous assertions seriously.” What must I think about such simpleminded people?! Today I just reread the article. It had a link to MKUltra and I clicked on that. What I found was:

“Project MKUltra (or MK-Ultra)[a] was the code name of a quasi-legal human experimentation program designed and undertaken by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).[1][2][3][4] The experiments were intended to develop procedures and identify drugs such as LSD that could be used in interrogations to weaken individuals and force confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture. MKUltra used numerous methods to manipulate its subjects' mental states and brain functions, such as the covert administration of high doses of psychoactive drugs (especially LSD) and other chemicals, electroshocks,[5] hypnosis,[6][7] sensory deprivation, isolation, and verbal and sexual abuse, in addition to other forms of torture.[8][9]

MKUltra was preceded by two drug-related experiments, Project Bluebird and Project Artichoke.[10][11] It began in 1953, was reduced in scope in 1964 and 1967, and was halted in 1973. It was organized through the CIA's Office of Scientific Intelligence and coordinated with the United States Army Biological Warfare Laboratories.[12] The program engaged in illegal activities,[13][14][15] including the use of U.S. and Canadian citizens as unwitting test subjects.[13]: 74 [16][17][18] MKUltra's scope was broad, with activities carried out under the guise of research at more than 80 institutions, including colleges and universities, hospitals, prisons, and pharmaceutical companies.[19] The CIA operated using front organizations, although some top officials at these institutions were aware of the CIA's involvement.[20]

MKUltra was first brought to public attention in 1975 by the Church Committee of the United States Congress and Gerald Ford's United States President's Commission on CIA activities within the United States (also known as the Rockefeller Commission). Investigative efforts were hampered by CIA Director Richard Helms's order that all MKUltra files be destroyed in 1973; the Church Committee and Rockefeller Commission investigations relied on the sworn testimony of direct participants and on the small number of documents that survived Helms's order.[21] In 1977, a Freedom of Information Act request uncovered a cache of 20,000 documents relating to MKUltra, which led to Senate hearings.[13][22] Some surviving information about MKUltra was declassified in July 2001.”

After reading this, I thought, “Wow! This happened in my dear, great land, America?! Maybe I now understand how some people might believe those wild-sounding QAnon ideas!”

And, in addition to all this, considering all of the sick, crazy, Alice in Wonderland kinds of things that are occurring today here in my great, lovely land [like the wide acceptance of homosexuality, the blurring of the line between male and female , “gender fluidity”, men who view themselves as women and demand that the correct pronoun be used in addressing them (and likewise for women)], the pressure of the Left for everyone to conform to their “politically correct” ideas and radical views and their demands for “sensitivity” to minorities such as homosexuals, the wide practice of sex change operations, our school system’s teaching of young five year old school children all about sex and all of it’s depraved variants, men who view themselves as women demanding their right to use ladies restrooms, etc. is it really so far-fetched to believe that a global cabal of perverted, lustful, child-perverting, child-eating politicians, Hollywood actors, and influential people might exist? After all I have seen, I could believe almost anything might happen in my dear country!

With all that is happening in this country the conservatives here are probably so shell-shocked by all they have seen that they can believe anything.
