On Covid mask-wearing and politics

Lately I have been noticing that it seems like literally everyone in my area suddenly seems to be wearing a COVID mask EVERYWHERE they go — both indoors and outdoors. It is something new. Before people wore them inside businesses and some wore them outdoors, but not everyone. I have been wondering about it. I have been wondering if perhaps our governor has given some order (that I haven’t heard about) that mandates everyone wear a mask everywhere, both indoors and out. It all seems a little odd since both my wife and I and most of the high risk people in our area have now received their Covid shots. I go on my five mile walk every day and I have never worn a mask. I have always felt that the chance of getting Covid (or giving it to someone) when you are out in the fresh air with no one around is about one in a hundred trillion. I do wear a mask when I go into some business or when I am near others — but not outdoors. I have noticed that many people even wear them when they are driving. I have wondered if they also wore them when they slept. (I believe in common sense, but would resent someone attempting to force foolishness on me). Anyway, I just received the latest issue of Imprimis, a publication of Hillsdale College, and its main article pertains to mask wearing and its efficacy in protecting against Covid. How much protection do masks really give you? The Democrats have really pushed mask-wearing hard. They made a big issue of it in the elections. What is the real truth about mask-wearing?
