True Christianity is chaste, decent, morally pure, good, virtuous

The most consummately beautiful thing in the universe is the rightly fashioned life of a good person.

                                                                                                George Herbert Palmer

True Christianity is chaste, decent, morally pure, good, virtuous. That is its basic nature. A Christian, in imitation of Jesus, who as God was morally pure, is supposed to be morally pure. Indecency, impurity, uncleanness is simply incompatible with Christianity. One can cite many scripture to support this assertion. Consider the following:

______________________________________________________________________________

1 Th 4:3-8 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; {4} that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, {5} not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; {6} that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. {7} For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. {8} Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.

Rom 13:12-14 Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. {13} Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. {14} But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

Gal 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20} Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, {21} Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Eph 5:3-12 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

Col 3:5-8 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

I Cor 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

I Pet 1:13-16 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, Be holy, for I am holy.”

James 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. {7}Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. {8} Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

2 Cor 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Eph. 4: 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, ...

Prov 15:26 The words of the pure are pleasant words.

Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure.

Prov 22:11 He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

The West, in abandoning Christianity, has become ever increasingly vulgar, obscene, unchaste, indecent, impure, filthy, dirty. One can see this especially here in America. There has been a transformation of astonishing proportions in America in this regard in the last seventy five years. The percentage of people who are indecent and vulgar has increased so dramatically that vulgarity has now become the rule (almost everyone is vulgar, unchaste, indecent). Decency and chastity is becoming very rare. You see this in the language being used in the mass media, on the internet, everywhere. Not that this is at all surprising. In a hedonistic society in pursuit of carnal pleasure, a society that has lost all fear of God, one would expect it. (In a society that has given itself over to lust, lasciviousness, and depravity one would expect it.) Language and conduct go together. Both are an indicator of mind. Both are indicators of the kind of spirit that rules a person. Both conduct and language are barometers of the moral condition of a society. I used to associate vulgarity with other western cultures. Now America has followed the same path as Europe and other cultures. America greatly deceives itself if she thinks she is Christian. Her language puts the lie to that pretension.

Back in 1960 John F Kennedy was running for president. I didn’t like him. Why? I saw him as a playboy devoid of morals. I just had a very low opinion of any person without morals. (In that way I was like my mother. My mother simply had no good opinion of a person without morals. She was biased in that way. In her view and in mine, morals are the measure of a person.) The idea of a debauched, lecherous person running for president of the greatest country on earth, America, was a shocking idea. I was shocked at such a person running for president, shocked at how popular he was, shocked to see him win. My thoughts were: “Just what are the implications of such a person winning the presidency in regard to the morality of this great country I am living in? People just don’t appear to care a thing about morality.” Well, after that we had the hippie movement with all its drugs, lust, lasciviousness, moral licence, depravity. And since then we have had other presidents at least equal to JFK in moral depravity. The moral caliber of the leaders that a society elects to represent them is an indicator of the moral condition of the society.
