Nihilism

A google search gave me the following:

Existential questions

Probably one of the most existential questions that will haunt you to sleep:

What is the purpose of our existence in this vast universe?

Are we truly in control of our own destinies, or are we just following a predetermined path?

Are we alone in the universe, or are there other intelligent beings out there?

How much of our perception of reality is actually real, and how much is just an illusion of our mind?

What is the nature of consciousness, and why do we experience existence in the way that we do?

How do we reconcile the existence of suffering and injustice in the world with the idea of a benevolent or just universe?

What is the origin of the universe, and what, if anything, existed before it?

Def. Nihilism. n. the rejection of all religious and moral principles, in the belief that life is meaningless.

AI Overview

In simple terms, nihilism is the belief that life is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value. It suggests that there are no inherent moral truths or universal values. Essentially, a nihilist would argue that nothing truly matters, and there's no ultimate reason for existence.

Meaninglessness:

Nihilism posits that life is inherently meaningless, lacking an inherent purpose or significance.

For example, a nihilist who rejects the existence of a Christian God (like Nietzsche) would eventually also reject their most basic morals as they begin to conceptualize the world and human life as progressively more meaningless.

What is the most nihilist thing you have seen these days?

_____________________________________________________________________________

Is there a God? No.

What is the nature of reality? What physics says it is.

What is the purpose of the universe? There is none.

What is the meaning of life? Ditto.

Why am I here? Just dumb luck.

Does prayer work? Of course not.

Is there a soul? Is it immortal? Are you kidding?

Is there free will? Not a chance!

What happens when we die? Everything pretty much goes on as before, except us.

What is the difference between right and wrong, good and bad? There is no moral difference between them.

Why should I be moral? Because it makes you feel better than being immoral.

If you put your confidence in science to provide the answers, the above nihilist outlook is pretty much unavoidable.

With all of the emphasis on science in our modern world, it is not surprising that it would lead to nihilist mentality. I would say that is a very depressing type of mentality. I would think it would bring serious mental problems.

Q. Have I myself ever in my life had any of those kinds of thoughts or that kind of outlook on life?

A. No. Thank goodness, No. Never in my life. Not once. Why? I have faith. I have always had faith.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.          Heb 11:6

When I was six, my parents started regularly attending a fundamentalist Baptist church. I went forward in an evangelistic service at the age of nine, “accepted Christ as my savior”, and have ever since been a God-fearing, Bible reading, Bible believing person. The Bible has been the foundation of my life.

Marxism is atheistic. Communism is atheistic. The entire western world in its great belief in science, reliance on science, has rejected the Bible and become very atheistic, materialistic, and nihilistic in its mentality. That is why the western world has become such a depraved Sodom. It has lost its faith. It has lost its moral foundation, its moral compass. The Bible emphasizes morality and chastity and very strongly condemns homosexuality. The outlooks of the main universities of the West are mostly atheistic and antagonistic to Christianity.

As a Christian I believe in a spiritual world as well as this physical world that I live in. I believe that the “real me” is a spirit who lives in my physical body and when my body dies my spirit will go on to that other spiritual world. Most cultures over the centuries have believed as I do. They have believed that when they die their spirits will go on to a spiritual world. The people of ancient India believed that. The people of ancient China believed that. It is not just a Christian belief. Through the ages many peoples have communicated with the spirit world through occult practices. For whatever reason, the Bibles instructs us to strictly avoid the occult. However, the Bible does not deny the power of mediums to communicate with the other world. The Bible documents the powers of the magicians of ancient Egypt when Moses was asking Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt:

Exodus 7:10-12 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and

they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his

rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a

serpent. {11} Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the

sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like

manner with their enchantments. {12} For they cast down every

man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod

   swallowed up their rods.

Exodus 8:6-7 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of

Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

{7} And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and

brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.

Our modern western world has become very materialistic in its outlooks. It is making a great mistake. There is a much more important dimension. The spiritual dimension.
