Most of humanity pursues escapism

   Most of humanity finds reality just too drab, ugly and depressing 
   to bear and tries to run away from it, or escape it, in many ways.  
   How do they try to escape it?

      - dreaming (i.e. daydreaming)

      - using mind-altering substances (e.g. alcohol, marijuana, 
          cocaine, heroin, LSD, etc.)

      - trying to amuse themselves (distract their minds from 
          reality) with all the ways people use to amuse themselves 
          (watching TV, going to movies, reading dime novels, working 
          on crafts, playing musical instruments, painting, watching
          spectator sports, playing golf, etc.)

      - engulfing themselves in hard work

      - sleeping

      - eating
