The romantic mind vs. the mind of the realist

In my youth I was a romantic deceived by illusion and romantic
notion. In my old age I am a realist. But in both my youth and
my old age I was a God-fearing man. What is the difference
between the mind of the romantic and that of the realist? The
romantic is oriented towards feeling, notion, and atmosphere. The
realist is oriented towards fact and logic. What led me away from
the romantic mind into the mind of the realist? The serious
pursuit of truth, knowledge and understanding. As I pursued
truth I rooted out the weeds of error and deception and grounded
   myself in knowledge and fact.
