America -- a competitive, dog-eat-dog world
How do I see modern America? I see a competitive, dog-eat-dog
world with everyone on a treadmill, worried about keeping their
jobs, hustling. It is a rat race that no-one likes. Everyone
is in harness and thinks there is no alternative. It is like a
game of musical chairs with everyone scurrying and scrambling
so as not to be "last man out". I see everyone pushing and
shoving in order to get a place at the table or to hold the
place they already have. Everyone lives in insecurity and
fear. Just to get into the race you have to invest a great
deal of effort in the form of studying in school. The
increasingly technical nature of the society makes the
schooling required more and more technical and difficult. It
is a rat race just to get into the rat race. People are valued
according to how successful they are in this rat race and those
who find themselves left behind end up with emotional problems
arising from low self-esteem. I see a lot of unhappy people.
I don't like the looks of what I see.
