Biblical position in regard to this world

  Q. What does the Bible have to say about this world that we
   live in?

  A. According to the Bible Satan rules this world. His values,
attitudes and outlooks pervade and prevail here. This world is
evil. Its attitudes, values and ways are the ways of the
Prince of Evil. The masses of this world follow Satan as their
shepherd. The Christian must turn away from the values,
attitudes and ways of this world and turn to the values,
attitudes and ways of Righteousness, Goodness and Virtue (i.e.
he must turn to God and his ways).

"You adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the
friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever
therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."
   James 4:4

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.
If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in
him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the
lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father,
but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust
thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever."
   I John 2:15-17

"be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind." Rom 12:2

"this world is crucified unto me and I unto the world" Gal
   6:14

"In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them
which believe not" II Cor 4:4

"who gave himself for our sins that he might deliver us from
this present evil world" Gal 1:4
