What is Christianity? To me Christianity is not so much a set of
beliefs as it is a set of values, attitudes, sentiments, likes
and dislikes; true Christianity is not so much intellectual
acceptance of a set of beliefs, dogmas and doctrines as it is a
matter of the right likes and dislikes. What do I mean? What
likes and dislikes? Well, first of all Christianity is love of
God, allegiance to God. Second it is a love for those things
that God represents: Honesty, Justice, Fairness, Decency,
Concern for Others, Kindness, Goodness. And it is a deep and
honest dislike and antipathy for Dishonesty, Deceit, Injustice,
Unfairness, Indecency, Cruelty and all Badness. In short
Christianity to me is a love for God and all Goodness and a
dislike and aversion for all that is opposed to God --- all
Badness. One could say that I love Goodness because I love God
and that I love God because I love Goodness and I don't know
which comes first. To me God and Goodness are very closely
tied, they are inseparable. Goodness is what God represents,
what he is all about.
In addition to Christianity being a set of values, a set of
likes and dislikes, it is, I suppose, the courage to live in
accordance with those values, those likes and dislikes.
Christianity is a set of values and living in accordance with
those values.
