Too much reading of romantic novels can addle the mind
Too much reading of romantic novels, romantic type literature,
can addle the mind. This assertion is suggested in Don Quixote,
Madame Bovary and other books. It is an important observation,
a true one. Too much reading of romantic material can deeply
influence a mind. Children and idealistic, impressionable
people are especially susceptable. These books can draw a
person further and further from reality and cloud understanding
of life. I read a lot of romantic material when I was a child
and I think it made a deep impression on my mind. It created
false images and generated false expectations of life.
