The way of the world, the way of the crowd, is the road to hell. The way of true Christianity is a road traveled by few.

The Bible teaches that the way of the world, the way of the crowd, the way of the masses is the road to hell. In other words, it teaches that most people are headed for hell. The Bible teaches that the way of true Christianity is a narrow solitary road traveled by few. It is important to understand this. It is important to understand that if we have decided to go God’s way, we have chosen to resist the crowd, to buck it, and travel a lonely path traveled by few. One cannot be a true Christian and also be a member of the crowd. The two ways are mutually exclusive. The crowd follows Satan. The Christian follows Christ, His teachings, God’s holy law.

Enter at the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is

the way that leads to destruction and many there are who go

in thereat. Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way

which leads to life and few there are who find it.

--- words of Jesus, Matt. 7:13-14

John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his

own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you

out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye

transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove

what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that

the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever

therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly

lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this

   present world;

1 Peter 4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to

have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in

lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings,

and abominable idolatries: 4. Wherein they think it strange

that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking

   evil of you:

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are

in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father

is not in him. 16. For all that is in the world, the lust of

the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is

not of the Father, but is of the world. 17. And the world

passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will

   of God abideth for ever.

To be a true Christian requires seriousness, resolve and character. Where does one get the strength to oppose the crowd and travel a lonely, solitary road? Where does one get the strength and motivation to follow the path of honesty, integrity, humility, virtue, chastity and goodness that Jesus taught? Well, it all begins with a serious person in quest for God and spiritual truth. A serious person in search of truth is introduced to the teachings of the Bible. A serious person in search of truth reads the Bible for himself and becomes completely convinced within himself that what he reads is absolute spiritual truth. He becomes convinced that the God of the Bible (Jehovah God) is the God of Gods, the supreme God. And he becomes completely convinced that Jesus Christ was who he claimed to be and that through him, by following in his way, being obedient to him, we can have eternal life. And he gives his personal allegiance to that Most High God and to Jesus Christ. The source of his strength lies in reading and knowing holy scripture. It is in the reading of God’s word. In God’s word he finds his strength and his faith. There is no substitute for reading the Bible. God’s word is the living water, life for the soul.
