Most of the tacit assumptions of society are wrong

When I was a young boy in high school I had a belief. I believed that most of the tacit assumptions under which most people labor are wrong; that most of the tacit assumptions of the society I lived in were wrong. The reason for this is that most people are sheep. They go with the crowd. If everyone else believes something, then they believe it, too. If the rest of society believes it, people feel it must be true. Most people are not critical thinkers. They don’t question, examine and think. They are gullible. They don’t think for themselves. They just believe what they are told. If some authority says it, it must be true. Example: the IQ concept. It is something they have all been taught so they assume it is true. It is just a tacit assumption of the society.

I believe I was right. Everyone in society gets programmed. Their beliefs, values, outlooks and attitudes are those that have been programmed into them by society. Mostly they believe a whole lot of rubbish and lie. It is all blind leading the blind.

Our government operates on all kinds of tacit assumptions. It makes huge, far reaching decisions, based on studies. And the studies are in turn based on tacit assumptions. Mostly, the assumptions are wrong. The government initiates programs costing vast amounts of money based on false assumptions and bad judgment and the result is all kinds of foolishness and squandered money.
